Not sure if I have seen anyone post this up yet, but I had a Noveske lopro sling swivel stud for a Troy handguard sitting around that I thought I would see if it fit my new NSR upper. . . it did.

The threaded backplate has a raised section that sits in the Troy Alpha/TRX holes. For the NSR, I just flipped it over so the flat side is resting against the flat side of the inside of the NSR. The washer that rests in the outside of the Troy rails fits nicely in the larger part of the keymod slots.

It just happened to time perfectly. I am not thinking I will keep this here, but it is convenient for zeroing and may be worthwhile for someone else.

Here are a couple simple pictures.
You can just see the raised portion through the hole in the NSR. That is the raised part that would sit in the Troy holes.

Daniel DefenseMFR vs Noveske NSR, ROG Tactical

***Mods, if this post doesn't fit in with this thread please delete or move.***

I just received my 13.5" NSR rail in the mail today and wanted to do some compare/contrast shots with the Daniel Defense MFR 12.0" it will be replacing. These rails are both similar in more ways than one. On a side note a big +1 for ROG Tactical out of CA. I ordered this rail at 3pm EST Saturday and it arrived today, great customer service too and free shipping.

    Similarities
    ~Free floating
    ~Continuous top rail
~Slots for attaching accessories only where you need them
~Emphasis on weight savings and slim profile
~Made by reputable companies with a commitment to quality

    Differences
~Barrel nut, with the NSR being theoretically more sturdy/a better attachment method
~Profile with DD being tublar while the NRS has squared but rounded corners
    ~NSR is lighter
~NSR has a anti-rotation pin built into it for those with Noveske/MUR upper receivers. Adds a little bit more peace of mind.
~NSR is shorter and thinner side to side than the DD MFR

Both rails use a very similar method of attachment for accessories. I included a couple of pictures at the bottom of this. It looks like the NSR is a more refined and compact method compared to the DD. Both do not require complicated or annoying backing plates that require removing the rail to install. DD only offers rail sections while the NSR offers direct mount accessories like the QD attachment. Hopefully other manufactures will start making direct mount parts as well.

No new information in my post but these rails are very similar and if anyone was trying to decide between the two this may help.

I'm getting this installed this week and look forward to the weight savings, even if it is small.

I may have missed it, but is anyone drilling the hole for anti-rotation on their non-noveske uppers?

No need IMO. They give you two sides of the barrel nut to get the perfect amount of torque. The rail's not going to rotate.

I haven't heard of anyone yet, but would like to know if someone had a DIY method for making a template to do this.
