    What Im wondering is that if the midlength gas system is such an improvement, why hasnt the military switched to this gas system? Has it been tested at all considering crane improved certain parts of the M4.

    Lots of things are better for this or for that. The military doesn't always buy the best. The a lot of times buy what is best for the money aka "best bang for the dollar".

    Case in point: Beretta 92FS vs. SIG P226....but that's a whole 'nuther argument.

    What kinda round count can I expect to get out of a Colt 6920 before I start breaking something? I mostly shoot XM193 and the Hornady steel cased training ammo.

    I've been debating if I want to invest in a BCM middy.

    same reason they still use USGI instead of superior pmags. Dont always get the best stuff.
