OK I am going to go with a bottom end Leupold scope and stop trying to save a few bucks.

    Thanks for all the advice

With cheap optics, it's not just a matter if the scope will survive the rifle, but if your eyes will survive the optics

I've been very pleased with the Mueller APV 4-12x on my CZ452. Holds zero and the glass is nice and clear. Makes shooting empty .22 cases at 75 yds easy. Cost me $114

Might be worth checking out Redfield scopes. Leupold bought the Redfield brand a couple of years back and they're made in Oregon. I found a little 3-9x Redfield Revolution at Cabelas for my Marlin lever action last fall for under $200.

I have a few Vortex scopes. Their different lines of scopes are made in different countries and inspected in the USA by them. I have a 2-7 Viper for my Tikka .300WSM but have not fired the set-up yet. For the price I paid the optics are amazingly clear and the quality seems to be there. I also have a Viper PST 2.5-10x scope on an AR and I am super pleased with it.

Quite honestly I don't know that I would go with their lower priced optics lines such as the Crossfire & Diamondback series. The Viper scopes in my limited experience so far are good quality and great for the money. The Viper PST line (Precision Shooting Tactical) are set-up with reticles that are designed for ranging, etc whereas the Viper line is more towards standard reticles and hunting type set-ups. They also have the Razor HD line which is the high end line. I have no experience with Razor series but on Sniper's Hide they get positive reviews.

I only bought my first Vortex scope because it was 50% off from SWFA but I was very pleased with it for the price point. I believe the Viper PST & Razor HD lines are proving to be reliable and tough enough for hard use based on reviews from others and Sniper's Hide but truthfully I don't treat my optics that rough so from that standpoint I can't say. Although I imagine the .300WSM will give that 2-7 a run for it's money as the Tikka it is mounted on is realatively light. Once the weather warms up we shall see.
