I wish I had a million different MT OTFs...I've rarely seen one that I didn't want to own really badly.

I have wanted a Microtech OTF for a while now and just pulled the trigger on the Ultratech with the new "bayonet" blade. Its smaller size makes it a good carry knife while still decent sized and reasonable cost at $220. It is a good way to start in OTF without breaking the bank.

That Scarab is a beauty if you want a little larger knife. I've been a MT auto fan since I bought an LUDT at SHOT 2007 for $105 (I'm glad to see they are making it again but wish they would have stuck with Torx fasteners). The opening mechanism of MT blows Benchmade away.

OP, nice knife, congrats. I am pondering a Scarab or Combat Troodon now.

Out of curiosity, do they make a replacement for the glassbreaker bolt that holds the pocket clip on? I'd prefer something that isn't pointy there. Maybe something rounded or flat.
Cyril: Oh now that's a breach of trust!

Lana: Do you really want to open this can of trust-breachy worms after I just found you and my ex-boyfriend with a dead hooker in the trunk?

    Cyril: ...I do not.

They do. Finding it is the problem. It is a cap screw that is low profile and I am looking for one. MT is not customer friendly for parts so the aftermarket is the place to go. Whatever screw you use will need red locktite. Mine loosens up after 20-30 cycles of the blade.

    They can be removed entirely.

Congrats DWood on your new Ultratech....it's a beauty for sure. I'd like to see one of those new "bayonet" styled blades in person.

They can, but you need a screw to retain the pocket clip, if you want to keep the clip. I went to a local parts supply that has all style odd screws and they don't have one short enough so that it will not interefere with the operating mechanism. If you don't want the clip, you can remove the glass breaker and clip and just have a hole in the end of the handle.

"Bayonet" really doesn't describe it well. It is double edged except for about 1 1/4" on the top edge. If you slip, you will not cut your thumb.

I like the OP's Scarab (except I am not a Tanto fan) and would like a Scarab with bayonet. Not sure if it is available. The Scarab is a nice size.
