Past 3 weekends, weather was abso-friggin'-lutely perfect at the range. Finished the build a couple of days ago, hoping to sight it in this weekend... weather absolutely BLOWS - literally. Forecast tomorrow is for gale-force, with T-storms all night tonight.
    How did it shoot!??

I want to score a PTR 91 one of these days. Perhaps next spring....

The day was a less than optimal... bit of a variable cross wind. At 100 yds, 20 shots inside a 3" sticker... and I know it was me, not the rifle that was the issue. The rifle is better than I am. My asthma was giving me a little trouble, so hit the inhaler (steroids), so though I could breathe, I was a bit shaky.

I friggin' love this gun. Seriously. The only thing I don't care for is the trigger... lots of take-up, and still pretty heavy. It's no "glass" trigger. I'd like to take in some of the slack, and lighten/crisp it up a bit.

Have a lead sled showing up tomorrow, so hopefully we'll have a decent day this weekend or an afternoon next week that I can scoot out to the range for the 200 yd very stable sight-in. Hoping I can pull off the same grouping at 200 under better conditions. Have a new 700 SPS in 30-.06 to sight in, too - anniversary present from the wife. Father-in-law wants to take me deer hunting this year.

I really dig the scope, too. The reticle is easy to use, clear and unencumbered.

Initially, I had some potential reservation regarding the bipod (all composite). It's tough and stable, and allows for some rotation as well as some cant, so you can get your shot adjusted pretty easily. Giving it a thumbs-up.

I have a PTR and Bill Springfield does a great job of making the trigger more enjoyable. It made a noticeable difference on my rifle when shooting for accuracy. Enjoy your rifle!

Just picked this up this weekend

Picked up a HK91 at the funshow this weekend. Guy had several he was clearing out. Missed the one with the PSG trigger pack. Came with the A3 stock,( had to get a new FH), 6 mags and extras I have posted on the for sale forum as I do not need them. Less than $2k out the door.
Not really excited about the cheekweld on the stock and don't think it is original - but it locks up tight as a drum.
    Wife likes the thin forearm.
Date code looks like "HK" - kind of cool.

Gotta love the 79 date code.

If the A3 stock is the same early blue/gray you really might have an "imported as" HK91A3. Given the early date code the slim forearm is probably original to the gun as well. Too bad you didn't have the original factory box to know for sure, would be quite collectible if you did and it was correct.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

Just need to get an original contour barrel in there.
