Hey thanks for the info, didn't know that.That's in great shape for a duty weapon! I mean the exterior finish.
FYI........the A2 designation is in regards to what type of buttstock is being utilized. So that may be why you are confused on the weapon's designation.
A2 = fixed buttstock, and A3= collapsable.
So you actually have an MP5A3.......that may have been given to you as an MP5A2 with a fixed buttstock and then the collapsable stock was added later.
Once you add the collapsable stock the designation changes from an MP5A2 to and MP5A3.

Here's another picture with some new furniture I picked up at our armory. I didn't like the short buttstock and also much prefer the beefier front grip.
