Strength Training and AR-15's Go togother.

I tell all of my friends that are interested in getting an AR-15 to either buy a set of weights and a bench or gym membership to go with it. They ask me why and I tell them that a 7 pound rifle starts to gain weight real quick when you start strapping lights, lasers, Acogs or scopes, and dual mags to them. Your weapon could quite easily gain twice it's weight. That rifle may weigh nothing on a bench or casual plinking, but it will weight a ton once you carry it for 10 hours or more.

You don't want to show up for a tatical class that you paid good money for and then have to sit some of the training out because you're too exhusted to carry your weapon.

Hell, even holding a loaded handgun gets tiring when you are on perimeter security. More gun guys need fitness training.

Word. An essential and missing component from their tool box. The number of fat out of shape guys I see at the range, IDPA, courses, etc never fails to amaze me. There's a reason the fast movers tend to also be in great shape, and it's not to (just) look good for the chicks. It's an essential component to your overall ability to perform.

It's not rocket science, but the few times I have suggested adding a physical stress component to a stage, they acted as if that's what I was talking about.

Ah but Will, that would give the fit and semi-fit an unfair advantage!
My brother saw Deliverance and bought a Bow. I saw Deliverance and bought an AR-15.
