Yeah. Keep the rifle - since it's a gift.

Your gal is a keeper in my book.

    Enjoy.

My girlfriend went with me to the gun store to pick up a M&P 9c a couple of months ago. While we were there she informed me she is not comfortable having handguns in the house. Then she said if we had to use a gun she would prefer to use an rifle. So same day I purchased the M&P and an AR.

    I love this girl!

After you save up your money for a quality AR, let her use the Shrubmaster.

Then when she figures out what's what with AR's, SHE can sell it, and get a decent AR.

Bushmaster certainly isn't a top of the line rifle, but you clearly scored hard in every other category!

It will be a fine gun for you to learn on, just go shoot!! And do check some of the stickys, make sure your gas keys are staked properly, and so on and so forth.

I'll give up my youth for a woman like that!

My wife bought me a FN m1900 for my birthday.
I bought her a BCM upper for hers. Made her year. She drew the line when I bought a Dillon for Christmas and tried to get her pressing cartridges.

It's always cool when you girlfriend or wife puts some thought into a gift... It means they're paying attention and that's more rare than we think. 4 years (off and on) with my ex and I don't think she ever knew my middle name. 8 years with my wife and she knows my parents' middle names.

Enjoy your rifle. Learn it well and have fun doing it. There's a great subforum here that can help you find a good source of training that is in, or may come through, an area close to you.

Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe

You have heard it several times now, GET HER A RING. She is a keeper. Have fun with the gun and learn to use it effectively.
