    Barrel Vise Help

I'm looking for a set of barrel vice's for my bench. I've made do for years without but decided I wanted a set. I'm looking at these http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1...Grip-Vise-Jaws

Will they work for what I want? I noticed they say standard and heavy barrels. A few years ago heavy meant very fat. Will these work for pencil barrels as well? Is there something else I should look at? Thanks, Hobe

Those are what I use. For lightweight barrels I use a piece of leather around the barrel.

This product works great. It definitely helps to lock down your barrel. It is the only product that I have found that will do the job.

I picked this one from Midway USA last year http://www.midwayusa.com/product/608...cm_vc=wishList

I have used it on standard and the pencil barrels and it has the grooves for heavy barrels. Just this week I removed a very tight A2 bird cage and used electrical tape on the barrel before clamping to give it a better grip and it came right off without marring the barrel.

I just cut a V-groove across the grain in a couple of pieces of 2x4, wrap some thin leather around the barrel.

Is there such a device for a .308 barrel?
