What distance hits are you getting with 2moa Aimpoints?

As the title asks, what distance can you make reliable hits with a 2 moa Aimpoint. My local range only goes to 200 yrds but with my 6920 and M4s I was able to put 11 out of 12 shots inside a six inch target using Fed XM193 ammo. I want to be able to conect at longer distances, up to 400 yrds. I'm planning on picking up some Black Hills 68gr match but my issue will be finding the extended range to test on. I ask because if my 2 moa will cover that distance it may save me $$ on a new scope.

For those of you that do have the distance and a similar set up, what do you think I can expect?

Im getting 600 no problem with an M3.

    Same for my M2.

I took a few shots at 800 but the wind completely cancels out the sound.

Im pretty sure they are hits. I just cant hear them

Took out my BCM middy with 2 MOA T-1 yesterday (first time with the 2 MOA T-1) and I was getting consistent hits on a 12" x 12" plate at about 250 yards with XM193 shooting from a bench with front rest only and shooting prone with magazine-pod. The winds were variable yesterday, but then the wind wasn't blowing too much, I would get 4/5 or 5/5 hits shooting at a pace of about 5 shots in 5 seconds.

Other than paper stands at 50 and 100 yards, the range only has metal targets at anywhere from 250 - 450 yards. The 450 yard gong was down yesterday and I didn't try the 350 yard metal target, which I'm guessing is about 6" x 6". The 2 MOA dot would completely cover the plate at 350 yards.

On your 600 and 800 yard shots, those are with no magnification? If so, that's some damn fine shooting! For me, anything beyond about 300 yards or so, I can't really see a 6 inch target that well without magnification.

Not that your choice of zero really makes much difference at 600-800 yards, but do you zero your 2 MOA dot with the dot centered on the POA at your chosen distance? Or do you zero with the top of the dot just below your POA as your chosen distance?

I typically zero my dot to about where I think the dot is centered on my POA at 50 yards. But I've also read where some are zeroing with the top of the dot to be the POA.

With those results Im wondering why Ive been messing with all these magnified optics with external turrets and charts all this time.

I've seen a guy hit a 12 inch plate at 475 with a 4MOA micro. Took him a few shots but he got there.

Hell I was shooting 4x and it took me a few shots too.

I'd still consider any red dot to be best suited as a 300 yard optic knowing that you can go farther with mixed results.
