    "The Crovel"

"The Crovel" Outdoor/Survival Tool looks like it could be useful.

Looks like overhyped crap. While it could be useful, sometimes less is more.

The back side looks like something awesome to fall on when it's stowed in your pack.

C'mon. You can get an "Extreme" model!

Like most multi-purpose tools, it's a "jack of all trades, master of none."

But if I was empty-handed and stumbled across one, I'd probably pick it up.

Good points Pilotguyo and Zhurdan. I was thinking it might be useful as more of a multi-tool for the ranch or the truck.

The maker of this was interviewed on Fox news yesterday. He is part of the Nat Geo "Preppers" program.
Came across as a total douche to me. His main concern was for an EMP and his primary BUG vehicle is a new Jeep Wrangler (won't run if EMP'd). Aside from that, the dork shot off his thumb while filming the episode. He said it was a "catastrophic failure"

Was sitting here going... where have I seen this before? Then I looked at his site again and read the part that says "New Invention Hits the Market!"... and that's when it hit me!

Chinese Combat Shovel... google it. At least he stole something from them and remade it instead of the other way around.

Then again, I remember using my Grandpa's "US Entrenching tool when I was a wee lad back in the early 1980's... pretty similar.

Not sure it's a "New" invention.

    No thread-jack intended

But the jury is still out on whether or not a modern vehicle would get killed by a CME/EMP if it was OFF at the time. If its running, it's confirmed.

What a tool, I think that episode airs tonight on Natgeo.
