M4-1000 suppressor bending firing pin retaining pin

The gun is a Colt AR15A2 Sporter with 16 inch barrel. When I shoot my can on it, the retaining pin gets horribly bent, to the point of having to use pliers and a hook-type tool to pull out enough of the pin to get with the pliers. Any ideas on a fix?

This is a common problem with the Colt sporter AR’s and has nothing to do with the suppresser. I think the only real fix is to replace the carrier.

Do you have a normal carrier or is it the half moon?

    What buffer?

Is your action spring in spec?

Do all Colts have this problem?

The rifle is 20+ years old and has the 2 different takedown pin sizes. The carrier is the half moon and I saw no marks or name on the buffer. The action spring is original.

I think this thread should explain it better than I could.

Replace the half moon carrier if you can with a standard one. If your lower has the sear block that prevents a standard carrier I would consider selling it to a collector, then buying a new one with standard pin sizes and carrier.

I would also put a new action spring and H2 buffer in it.

Yes it does have the sear block. I will try it with a standard carrier (there should be one in my Noveske CQB 10.5 with Switchblock...which, by the way, is the best M4 type I have ever fired or owned!!! Ok, end of unsolicited Noveske endorsement :-) ). If it does not work, I will remove the 11 tooth AAC mount on it and buy another rifle.

    Colt AR Sporter issue...

What about grinding down the sear block enough to accomodate another standard BCG? The block will still do its' intended job right?
