Lightbulb Sling Attachment on LMT Crane Stock

I have an LMT SOPMOD Crane stock and would like to attach one end of my sling to it. The GG&G sling thing seems a bit flimsy. Is there a way to attach a sling to the reinforced hole in the center of the stock?

Depends on what type of sling you are trying to attach to it.

Here is how I attach my Blue Force Gear Vickers slings to my LMT SOPMOD stocks:

I'm using a Wilderness 3pt Giles sling. The buckle looks quite secure, But I think the 3pt slings need to be able to slide through a keeper to be effective.

I'm not entirely sure about this, however. When I was on active duty in the 80's there was only one type of sling, and one type of stock. So all these options seem a bit confusing.

If you can install a QD on the sling itself, MI makes a pretty cheap sling mount for the LMT stock. In fact I can sell you the one I no longer use even cheaper!

Here is how I did mine... It mounts to a STRONG area of the stock, not the thinner webbing. And its quick disconnect...

    Lightbulb This solution looks good

I wanted a way to use the quick disconnect on my sling. So I came up with a modification to rumplstlkn's solution. I purchased the Giles Sling MagPul M93A adapter, ambi and the Uncle Mike's Push Button Detachable Sling Swivels.

Using a dremel, I cut the swivel mount on the MagPul adapter almost down to the threads on the bolt. I left about 1 mm of the swivel mount base. Then I inserted the swivel bolt into the QD sling swivel base and pushed the assembly through the sling hole on the LMT stock. I used red loctite to hold the nut. The 1 1/4" QD button swivel can now snap into place. No changes were made to the stock.

    Here is the modification:

Here is the sling mount in place:

    Here is the reverse:

Here is the sling QD connected:
