Training for being back in combat

A friend of mine, Lt. in the Spanish Army (25yo), is looking for trainers, a training program and any information about how to train for being able to pass the PT test and being back in combat with his unit.

He lost a leg (under the knee) in an IED attack in June 2011, and is attending rehabilitation and using an C-Walk with "Harmony" brackets.

    Any names, links or suggestions?

    Thanks!

It's great your friend is back up and wanting to get back to work. Congrats to him and his letting nothing hold him back.

Please excuse ignorance of my Qs here: Can one go back into a front line combat unit with a missing leg in the Spanish military?

Two, he'd need to be passed all rehab, and 100% given GTG by docs for intense exercise.

Beyond that, he's going to need to do what all healthy able body people do to get into shape, and work around what he can't do under his circumstances.

I'm not a rehab specialist and have limited experience with amputees and don't want to go out of my lane by giving semi medical advice to him, but with the number of amputees we will now have, it's an area of real growth for training info that will need to be addressed no doubt.

    Will,

Thank you for your response, yes, he is very commited to being back in service and already making a great progress in his rehabilitation.

Actually an amputee stands in service from the moment he/she leaves the hospital, until the next PAEF (annual PT test). If he can't pass the test, is forced to leave the Army and his career.

The new government is changing this, letting WIAs to stay in office's works, as instructors and such, but he is putting pressure and obtaining as much support as possible for obtaining a possibility, that is, if he pass his PAEF and pre-deployment training without issues... that he can come back to Afghanistan to finish a deployment with his unit (Light Infantry).

I've seen a lot of pictures of US soldiers and Marines in Irak and Afghanistan with prosthetic legs and hands, and it will be great to pass him as much information as possible to help him.

    Regards, Reseremb

I'll be happy to assist if/where possible and his drive and heart is an example to all.

Tell him I'll give him free access to my Body Building Revealed Program, which despite the name (as some M4C members can attest to) has a ton of info on all things health/fitness/performance and a good number of ex and current mil/LEO.

It's not mil specific of course, but it's a big intel dump on the topic of supps, nutrition, and training.

It's in English only at this time, so if he's unable to read English, apologies in advance to him.

Thank you so much Will, I am going to pass him a link to your website so he can contact you.

Well, he graduated from Officer's School, and English is mandatory since 1990
