ATF kills the Taurus 28 Gauge Revolver

First of all, I don't know if this thread belongs here, in Shotguns, or NFA, so I leave that decision to the mods.

The Firearm Blog is reporting that the ATF declared the 28 Gauge Raging Judge a SBS at the SHOT show. This explains why someone on TOS said it was gone from the Taurus booth by the end of the show.

Wait a second, IIRC the NFA regulations would make that an AOW if it's a smooth bore right?

I for one firmly disagree with the government limiting stupidity.

Taurus USA imports their pistols from the Taurus factory in Brazil. If they were imported the sample 28 gauge SBS and specified in the US Customs / BATFE paperwork that is was a pistol, they could be in trouble.
Uh oh for Taurus? Could that put them out buisness in the US?

Doesn't bother me. I wouldn't have been interested anyway unless it were 12 gauge.

it must have been a smooth bore.

it's messed up that all they would have to do is put tiny little grooves
and call it "rifling" then it would be legal.

Even with a rifled barrel, the 28 gauge would be over 50 cal in a slug load. That's what I heard at the show got them all worked up.
