Hey Dan - I plan to keep my 870 all natural with wood stock and checkering. It was my 1st SG that I got when I was 14 and so it has some nostalgia. Plus all of my other stuff AR's, Glock's, M1A, etc tend to be blacked out so I plan to keep the 870 wood - just add an extension and an X300 and a sling. Haven't done either yet - the 870 has been a safe queen.
I went with a Wilson Combat +2 with no sling attachment for my 870
I have a Streamlight TLR1 that I plan on mounting on my gun, but still don't know a good way to mount it...
Right now I am really leaning towards waiting for the Magpul Forend to be released and getting it along with a short polymer rail and mounting it that way to keep the light on the forend for easy on/off.
But if you are wanting to keep the wood on your gun then a barrel clamp would be the best bet.

You could go with something like that? It does say that it works with the Nordic Comp extension only I assume... So if you went with the WC extension you may have to do the epoxy trick to get it to clamp tight around the extension... Or get a Nordic Comp extension...

You also have the option of the new Magpul forend, if you wanted to change the furniture. Other than that, I've heard good things about Mesa Tactical for their shotgun upgrades, and they have some clamps. I don't have any experience yet, though.
Sic semper tyrannis.
If you want to mount your x300 real cheap and easy, I found this to be very good for what it is.
