So while an adjustable gas block is probably ideal, without completing the install of one is it totally wrong to attempt to tone things down from the other end of the rifle?
Currently I have an A5 (with their standard buffer) and LMT enhanced carrier/bolt; my rifle still seems snappy when suppressed (Mini-4), so I think I could stand to jump up at least one buffer weight - probably two.
I'd bump up to an A5 - 3. It's almost a full ounce heavier.

That's what I was running on my 10.3" prior to adding the adjustable GB and it ran great with anything I put through it (M193/M855 down to Wolf).
I've since went back to the A5-H2 (5.3oz) after swapping over to the Syrac GB.
I just swapped out the internal weights to make an A5-H2 an A5-H3. I had a couple H-buffers laying around that donated the needed weights. Much cheaper than buying multiple A5 buffers.

Will the RIS II fit over the clamp on Syrac? I'm assuming it fits over the set screw version.
