    The Battle For Cop Keating

I consider myself fairly well informed about such things as civis go, and I'd not heard of this battle. This battle resulted in:

"... 27 Purple Hearts, 37 Army Commendation Medals with "V" devices for valor, three Bronze Stars, 18 Bronze Stars with "V" devices, and nine Silver Stars. Staff Sgt. Clinton "Clint" Romesha recently received the Medal of Honor for his actions that day, and another soldier, Sgt. Ty Carter, has been recommended for one."

The Battle of Kamdesh is legendary, and will be portrayed in a movie. All the guys who were there, are studs.

Was that the one with the POV cam where the guy is on the side of a hill taking pretty accurate fire from some Taliban?

Red Platoon by Clinton Romesha is a really good read on the subject. So much so that I finished it in a day or two on the weekend.

Even Jake Tapper’s book about it was great.
AQ planned for years and sent their A team to carry out the attacks, and on Flight 93 they were thwarted by a pick-up team made up of United Frequent Fliers. Many people look at 9/11 and wonder how we can stop an enemy like that. I look at FL93 and wonder, "How can we lose?". -- FromMyColdDeadHand

Yeah, that's the one I have.

BTW, Ty Carter was indeed awarded the MoH.

Same here. I had never heard of him, but he was at the NEMO booth at the NRA convention a few years ago, signing his book. I bought the book, got it signed, and thanked him for being a great American soldier. He was a polite, unassuming fella, and gave no impression of being full of himself in the least.

I hope the film does the men justice and honors them.

I wished someone would make a feature film about the Battle of Takur Ghar.
