Noticed that too. Wonder if it's a prewar model or a West Hurley.

Definitely not prewar, that setup of '28 didn't show up until late '42 or '43 IIRC. It's identical to the one a TCA member and SOT friend busted my full-auto cherry with. Could be a Westy, but I would not be surprised if it's a bringback.

Personally I prefer the 1921AC and 1928AC "Chicago Typewriter" models, but I would not feel inadequate with any form of Da Choppa if well-made (read: "generally not West Hurley;" my friend's three were an original pre-Cutts Colt '21A, an AO Bridgeport '28A1 and a Savage M1) and well-maintained.

Not an expert, but knew it obviously wasn't a M1. I'm betting it's a West. That said I'd do just about anything for a Colt Navy 21.

No expert here either, amigo, just a casual fan with owning one (wet-dream, one with USSS Presidential Protection Detail* provenance, hopefully a '28AC) on my Bucket List. Most of my interest was being steeped on old black-and-white "gangsters and g-men" movies thanks to my grandfather... the WWII bug only reinforced that.
*During the Blair House intrusion, the very first question out of the SAIC's mouth was "Where's my Thompson?" Any weapon that has guarded Presidents oughtta do for watching over my home and loved ones...

My father fought in Hue City where he picked up a Thompson SMG. He said that it was fantastic for room clearing- fire off a burst into a (occupied) room and then sit back, smoke a cigarette and wait for the rounds to stop bouncing around before going in.
