Off topic a bit, but I was watching the SHOT Show video by The Firearm Blog featuring their new, improved Caracal F handgun. The Caracal rep mentioned that the original intent was to have the polymer frames shipped in from the UAE. However, since the UAE is involved in the current Yemen Crisis they've restricted the export of military-related items. So Caracal USA is having to have the frames made here which has affected the handgun's release date.
And a bunch of Hi-Points!
Caracal 816 is a well engineered piston gun, and Wilcox is an excellent manufacturer. Let's see how they do.

Thank you for posting that video! It definitely changed my thoughts about caracal. I had thought of them as being something like Taurus

No surprise there. It was designed by Robert Hirt and Chris Sirosis, both formerly of Sig, who designed the 516 for Sig. Hirt is also one of the lead designers for the HK 416. The gas piston system on the 816 is virtually identical to the Sig 516. Everything that I have read indicates that the Caracal 816 is a top quality firearm. Inasmuch as I own three 516's that I am very happy with, I would love to have an 816.
