I can’t disagree with much of anything Okie is saying, but an 11.5” with a .07” port and 5.56 chamber is a very good recipe and I would be pretty confident that Geissele can do that.

DD’s newest MK18 barrels have been reported to have a good size port, and in my experience, DD barrels are tops. If I didn’t have a drum full of 6920 barrels bought well under $200/each, I would probably own DD barrels.

Chopping a barrel is not a product offering. Come on man, you know that……….

Hard to argue some of Okie’s logic when I’ve done the what he’s described. I’ve taken a 6920 OEM 1 and sent the barrel to be cut and gas port opened up. Used a Centurion Arms rail however. It came out great. So doing it that way is a viable option.

I also own a DD 11.5 which I also like. But the fit and finish is hands down better on my DD. I see no difference in quality between the two. The only reason I see in today’s market to get a Colt is if you have your heart set on a Colt. Lots of good options out there.

But between DD and Geissele I’d go DD just for the barrel.

This is all cute if you're trying to build a clone. However, to suggest that the TDP can't be improved upon by other manufacturers is just silly.

And this is coming from a Colt fan...

Why would I buy something, then go through the hassle and expense of sending it in to be chopped when I can simply buy one of the two, very good products, covered in this thread?

If Colt offered a MK18 product that would be different, but they don’t.

In fact, I don’t see any SBR offerings from Colt, which could be an entirely different thread.

All this arguing for nothing since the colt barrels coming out now are coming with Roscoe proof marks.

If the DD barrels are .070 they are the next best option.

I have more than a few 10.3 with real colt barrels, and have owned a few more than that.

11.5 is the better option though. To the OP build, don’t buy your upper. Make sure it’s right to your standard. Get a the DD barrel, and the G mk16 rail, or however you wanna build it.

I don't know how to tell you this, but they've offered one for years.
