I had no idea Brownells made their own stuff, much less something unique like that, Buffer-less AR Pistol Upper gas piston design. Any see such a thing in the wild yet?

So where does the BRN -gen 2 fall in the short stroke gas system model world? Isn’t the 180 system an early progenitor of the G36 type? I’m just throwing crap out there so that someone can dazzle us.
300BO would be interesting.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.
It's that simple.

Yes, the G36 could be said to be based on the AR18. It works very similarly on the inside and uses action and gas parts of similar design.
I’d say every rifle I can think of from HK is derivative. Edit: the G11 was completely novel and rather clever. It derives almost nothing from anywhere.

Shit, you’re right. The AR-18 borrows from the Tokarev short-stroke piston, and the short-stroke piston in the G36 is a bit different, and yes, the 416 uses that style. The regulation is done differently, and I’m not sure of any preceding designs that use that little nub blocking the forward gas vent.
However, the BCG of the G36 is very clearly borrowed from the AR18, much like almost everything but the gas piston of the 416 is borrowed from the AR15.
