The reason for #2278C vc the non-cannelured ones as they are completely different bullets. One is .917" OAL (2278C) and the other is 981" OAL (2278,22785, 2278B). The shorter one works well in 1-8 or 1-9 twists, the other does not play as well. And it's length is closer to the 62 grain HPBT which was an OAL .862"
    That’s a good deal. Thanks

I'm guessing we will never see the 62 BTHP for 9 cents each again 😕

That's for sure. Might come back at $0.25

Not so much on current pricing, but rather availability is what I'm going to inquire about at SHOT

When I emailed customer service several months ago, they said that the 62 gr BTHP was not currently in production and that they had no plans to resume at this time. I have since noticed that the 62 gr FMJBT has also disappeared from retail outlets. The BTHP is still our favorite bullet, maybe Rocky Mountain Reloading could be persuaded to manufacture something similar. Otherwise, I guess we will just have to go with their 69 gr version.

I certainly hope so as I was, and am disappointed in Hornady for this...

I smoked a prairie dog from the front porch with one of these bullets the other day, they tear them up. Do a lot better than the 77smk. I keep them loaded in my bedside rifle. In fact I think they’re in all my ars currently. I wish Hornady would start making them again

I smoked a skunk last summer with a 77gr SMK. Ripped him nearly in half. Hard to imagine 62 gr doing much better.

Never mind bullets - what about cost of all the other stuff? (powder, primers etc.)?
Un-mothballed my Lee press to get back in reloading, thinking cost of (any) ammo is unacceptable.
Then saw the price of 8lbs of IMR4064, took me 10 minutes to stop hyperventilating.
What de FUQUE is going on??? Yes it's still worth it to roll yer own, but barely so. Prices are just off the rails.
    Will it ever come down?
Seriously - who can afford to shoot any more? Its no longer a 'regular working persons' game, really.

PS Looks like they're back in stock?
