At first I took it as first person story telling so I liked 6 N The Morning and stuff like that. But when it became "all gangster shit, all the time" and retards started actually shooting each other over east coast / west coast shit I tuned out. The only Tupac single I can listen to is California and that is mostly due to Roger Troutman being involved.
Can't even listen to Dre and Snoop because of that nonsense and Dre is a brilliant performer / producer.

Yup. When I heard "Rocket Fuel" from DJ Shadow featuring De la Soul a few years back, those guys haven't bent to change and kept their style and I was thinking, "man, this kind of reminds me of when hip hop was good and fun", and when originality and musical talent actually existed.
Referencing the " You aren't really old but" thread I guess I am really old when so many here like rap. Didn't like it when it started and still don't now.
You don't have to like it. I like classic rock now, but then it was my older brothers music. And hair metal? Just couldn't get into Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, to me it was the same noise. There is music for everyone for a reason. I didn't hate grunge because I was old, I just thought most of it sucked. But there is an entire generation that loves that shit. For me, rap and early hip hop had a great sound and because I was moving in that direction with early 80s new wave like Gary Numan and Thomas Dolby it wasn't a huge crossover.

It's all personal preference. I don't like a lot of it, but the ones with great beats and some originality, I like. My taste in music also runs the gamut. I like a little bit of everything. Most of it is rock though.
Just like women. If they are hot, they're hot...it doesn't matter what race, color, ethnicity. Again, a lot of what I think hot is, usually are predominantly in certain ethnicities, races, mixes, etc, but still..."Hot" runs the gamut.
