I’ve been doing some home Parkerizing, and it’s much quicker and easier than I previously thought.
Anyway, I thought folks might be interested in these scanning electron micrographs of Parkerized surfaces, at 1500x. Zinc based Parkerizing is on the left, manganese on the right.
The Brownell’s instructions say that the zinc based surface has a “heavy, definite crystal structure” and this is quite evident.
The 50 micron scale line at the bottom is about .002 inches.
