Fontana, CA police secure false confession from mentally ill man

In August 2018 Thomas Perez reported his father as missing, so Fontana PD concocted a story his father had been found stabbed to death.

Interrogated him for 17 hours, denied him medical attention including his medication, and told him they would be euthanizing his dog.

After falsely confessing he tried to commit suicide by hanging himself with a drawstring so the cops had him involuntarily committed with a no contact caveat and flipped the dog to a shelter that would have euthanized if they hadn't found the chip in it.

And they forgot to tell him his dad showed up while he was locked up in the mental facility.

Every single one of these shitbirds AND THEIR SUPERVISORS should be de-certed, stripped of pension and Thrown The Book At.

Guys like this are how you take steam away from Back The Blue and pump it into ACAB...

This is some profoundly evil shit. The citizens of that community need to come together to force the complete reorganization of that PD. I would wager the entire culture of that department is so ****ed up as to be unsalvageable. From their chief on down……they gotta go. Looks like the population is about 210,000 so surely there are some attorneys that could start the lawsuits against the city and the individuals. I would absolutely refuse to be policed by those people.

I wonder what tune they'd be singing if each of these Jackboots who's profaned oath, badge and uniform found himself receiving the same treatment?

For similar reasons, I'm starting to think a mandatory component of Dynamic Entry training should be having to experience one on the Downrange side in the shoothouse every year.

Good lord. Put those bastards against the wall and shoot 'em in front of the entire department. Qualified Immunity is such a damn joke. They should be held to a higher standard, not given a pass for any crimes they commit.
It's f*****g great, putting holes in people, all the time, and it just puts 'em down mate, they drop like sacks of s**t when they go down with this.

In this instance I'd have to agree.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

Refinement, make the triggerpullers be other members of the department, AFTER the offenders are publicly stripped of rank and badge. Think an Old School Drumming Out.

The pd/city of fontana was good with the acts of their cops:
"Fontana police did not return an email seeking comment. Three of the involved officers remain employed with the department. One other officer has retired."

Not finding recent info from the court case on justia, and something from the article(s) seems odd.

"The suit was recently settled for nearly $900,000.

Perez agreed to the settlement rather than take the case to trial out of concern that a jury award could be overturned on appeal on grounds of qualified immunity for police. Generally, qualified immunity protects law enforcement officers unless they violate clearly established law arising from a case with nearly identical facts, according to the Legal Defense Fund."

Based on reading other crap like this in the past, the cops receiving QI would get them out of being on the hook for the civil payout and acknowledges they violated rights.

QI doesn't eliminate their employer(actually tax payers get screwed) being on the civil hook for the rights violation.

To protect and serve, huh? Scumbags should be in prison if not just shot. It is pricks like this that get people screaming about defunding the police.
