the first picture is my wife Michelle a die hard hog hunter! she was shooting a TC Icon in .243 and I was shooting a RRA .223 topped with a 512 and a 3x magnifier.
Okay Michelle shot my hog so I took my frustration out on a rabbit.

Nice, I use a T/C Contender with a custom MatchGrade Machine 20" barrel with a 1:7"twist so I can shoot my hog killings reloads of .223 75 grain BTHPs that I use in my SIG 556s, nailed over 60 last year up to 500 pounds in the backyard....

Nice! I just got an axis this weekend with my AR. I haver never shot anything with it besides rabbits in fear of losing the animal.. but It dropped in its tracks.

Nice!
I think my boys and I are going to have to make a trip down to Texas this year for some hog hunting.

Awesome hogs! I really need to go out for one of them one of these days. How does the .223 perform on those beasts?
All one shot kills out to 225 yards max, most are 90-140 yards, DOA.
A couple are head shots but 98% are lung shot since it is too difficult to penetrate the shoulder to hit the heart. I aim for right behind the shoulder through the ribs, no problem.
I use Hornady 75 grain BTHP, Prvi 75 grain BTHP, Sierra 77 grain MatchKings, and 77 grain Nosler Competions and lately 70 grain Barnes TSX - all perform extremely well for instant kills.
Proper bullet placement is required to bring these large beasts down with a 5.56mm/.223, you don't just shoot them in the arse as they are running away from you....even with a larger caliber.
