    Firing pins and cam pins

Are all AR firing pins and cam pins the same? I have and LMT and DD mk18 and am buying some spare parts. I was looking at the Colt Firing pin and cam pins. Are they direct replacements?

All the quality makers should be the same (DD, BCM, Colt, etc). I believe there are slight differences between brands based on who actually manufactures the parts.

Has anyone seen a firing pin with a dull, matte, almost powder coated gray/silver surface? One came in a BCG and has me wondering why it doesnt have a chrome finish...

I'm pretty sure the spare i ordered from BCM is like that. I can check in the morning for you but I'm fairly confident.
AQ planned for years and sent their A team to carry out the attacks, and on Flight 93 they were thwarted by a pick-up team made up of United Frequent Fliers. Many people look at 9/11 and wonder how we can stop an enemy like that. I look at FL93 and wonder, "How can we lose?". -- FromMyColdDeadHand

That is due to the surface texture, not material.
Industrial chrome’s natural finish is not mirror shiny. The ones I have are dull, but not powder-dull.

It's not powder, but it's not shiny like every other firing pin I have seen.

It's a strange light gray which the picture almost catches.

Just interesting as I have not seen this in hundreds of firing pins I have handled over the years.

A "normal" FP on the left.

I'm just weird and like to run the large spool firing pins... even though some of the BCM BCGs have come with the small spool. Small spool just irritates me because it's part of the ramped carrier/type II hammer political correctness from previous Colt offerings.

Why would they take an extra manufacturing step?

Unless you mean shot peened which makes it awesome which means I need to buy a dozen new firing pins ;-)
