And I thought it was interesting that in SB's videos on their site, they don't seem to demonstrate a shouldered approach to using their braces--so they're kind of avoiding the critical issue of whether you can shoulder.
I think they're trying not to taunt the ATF

Folks need to do two things immediately. #1 Stop putting vertical fore grips on pistols. #2 Stop poking the sleeping ATF bear.
Its really not that hard people. Sheeze....

Technically, this is impossible. Installing a VFG changes the classification of the weapon regardless of OAL. Either you have an AOW or a Type 1 "firearm".

Yes, but they are doing it like idiots and not realizing like you said it then changes the classification.

FWIW, if memory serves my 10.3 with brace and MD removed measured out at 25.925 from muzzle crown to end of A5 buffer tube with LAW sidefolder in between.

    I Agree.

Their braces are designed not for shouldering....so they advertise them that way....

The fact that it is claimed they are not designed to be shouldered is exactly the same reason why the ATF "allows" you to shoulder it.

I have no use for the KAK brace/tail blade.

I have been looking into AR pistols and even looked at the Ruger at $559 and am wondering if there is a pistol with a shorter barrel that will work reliably?

Yes, there are. My 8.5" (5.56) works great as does my 9" .300blk.
