The only AK I regret parting with is a 5.45 just because they can be accurate and fun. That said, milled AKs are heavy for no reason and some Arsensls have to have the brakes professionally torched to remove. Plus a lot have canted front sights. Not even a good wall hanger.

Bolt should be the same.

Mag well opening doesn't matter a whole lot as long as the mag locks in. If there is any left to right movement due to Dremel it should have no effect. But you can tell when someone went at it with a hand tool. The opening is all cockeyed looking.

Regardless, you may have some wobble anyway. Even if minor. Depending on the mag you're using and how worn/new it is

The SLR-101 is a what could be imported at the time version of the AKK.


If you're in to firearms history and don't feed inadequate because one of your guns isn't the latest and greatest, it would be worth converting the SLR-101 to an AKK clone. Plus, they are fun to shoot and the barrel is very high quality. I'd be all over this if I didn't already have an AKK clone.

Say what you want about AK's, but I have my doubts that this guy could keep an M4 running.

Yep. There are stocks that are designed to fit milled receivers and stocks that are designed to fit stamped receivers. Interestingly, the Yugo (Serbian now) stamped receiver rifles have rear trunnions that were designed to accept the same buttstocks that the milled receivers accept.

The Bulgarians used the milled receivers for 7.62x39 because they were not licensed by the Russians to manufacture AKM receivers. Here are their offerings. Note there are no stamped receiver AK's offered.
