Correction: I unknowingly conveyed false info on the SilencerCo trifecta brake. It actually weighs 3.95oz with shims, exactly the same as the Surfire Socom brake. The combined total for the Saker K and trifecta brake is just a 2 tenths of an ounce heavier than the Socom mini with socom brake.

Spec comparison of combat grade cans with the best QD mounts

    Compact:
    -SilencerCo Saker K 556: 5.8", 14.7oz, adds ?”, 136.6dB, +trifecta brake 3.95oz = 18.65oz
    -Surefire Socom 556 Mini: 5", 14.5oz, adds 2.8”, ?dB, +socom brake 3.95oz = 18.45oz
    -KAC 556 QDC CQB: 4.78”, 13.2oz, adds ?", -22dB, +mams brake 2.45oz = 15.65oz

    Full size:
    -SilencerCo Saker 556: 6.76", 18oz, adds ?", 132.2dB, +trifecta brake 3.95oz =21.95oz
    -Surefire Socom 556 RC: 6.2", 17oz, adds 4", ?dB, +socom brake 3.95oz = 20.95oz
    -KAC 556 QDC: 6.69”, 18oz, adds ?”, -29dB, +mams brake 2.45oz = 20.45oz

The Gemtech is attractively light and has more volume than even the full size cans, though the mount is not in the same class:
    -Gemtech GMT Halo: 7.2”, 12.2oz, adds 5.4”, -29dB, +2AA T3 Ti 1.35oz = 13.55oz

The only two considerations here are a Surefire RC or a KAC ball mount.

A specwar would be a 3rd choice on a budget.
I've been running HALOs for years without any POI shift, especially at "inside the house" distances." My only objection to the HALO is a weight issue, a titanium HALO should solve that problem.

Mounts are almost a zero consideration because I won't be taking it on and off very much at all. And my next can will be an RC so if it proves to be suitable for the 6945 it will simply replace the HALO GMT.

But right now I'm currently running a HALO without any noticeable issues.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Halo GMT as far as POI goes. People need to lay off the POI shift talking point since your main concern is shooting across a room. The only thing I'd advise is to keep an eye on the welds on any Gemtech suppressor, but especially a titanium one. I've had a couple customers complain about split welds on their Quicksands and G5-T's over the past two years and don't know if its been an issue with the Halo as we have ceased ordering new Gemtech cans altogether.

No 556 can on a sbr is going to be hearing safe fired inside. Use electronic earpro inside the house.
Seriously? Why would anyone put on ear pro in their house during a life or death situation? I am all for ear pro at the range, seat belts and car seats. Tomorrow suppressors will be legal here in VT. I see their value. I have two on order. That said I would never put on ear pro in a self defense situation at home. Ear pro would not even be in the top 100 things I would think about while defending my loved ones.

This. I'm getting a can for my 556 hd rifle. It doesn't have to be hearing safe, but it does greatly reduce the noise, and hence hearing damage. I honestly don't think a silenced 556 will do much for a few shots. OSHA isn't investigating my HD setup... yet.

Finally got my GMT Halo out of jail. I'm very happy so far.

Leonidas24, your statement about welds intrigues me, I don't have my HALO in hand as I write this, but I don't recall it having any welds or at least visible welds, the front end cap screws on and the tube appears to be one piece. Am I missing something.

The weight and the mounting flexibility made the decision for me.

    As always YMMV..

There is a thread in PF.com where a SME claims that the SEALS pulled their SF suppressors due to a design flaw in the mount.

    https://pistol-forum.com/showthread....ire+suppressor

He implies that they have had systemic problems with SF suppressors. My understanding is that he is / was the senior NCO for a SEAL sniper platoon.
I like my rifles like my women - short, light, fast, brown, and suppressed.

This is the first I've heard of it- as someone else mentioned in that thread maybe they didn't seat it correctly before tightening it down. That would cause it to seem mounted correctly but would launch downrange in short order. Curious about more info on the issues...

Just saw this deal, figured I would post it. $799 for a Socom RC. I have never bought anything from these guys. Good luck!
