Thoughts on a .260 rebarrel

Been itching the pick up an AR-10 or DPMS pattern .308 to rebarrel to .260.

Currently favoring a DPMS G2 to rebarrel. I like the idea of the G2 (even though it is a DPMS), and it seems that the issues that it is having are all because it is overgassed. Since I would be rebarreling it to .260 and running a Syrac Ordinance gas block, being overgassed seems a moot point.

Are there any other issues that the G2's have been having?

Any other brands I could consider in the same price range? I have considered the Aero OEM but I like the idea of the G2 over the G1 pattern of the Aero.

Others have been looking at a few changes in the barrel with some action system changes. Might be worthwhile to look beyond just the barrel swap for this.

I have an Armalite AR-10T in 260Rem. It is great and I love it. Just get a complete upper and be done with it.

I've been looking into the same thing but couldn't find any replacement barrels with the g2 barrel extension. My g2 recon is a laser but I would love an 18" 6.5 creedmoor barrel in a medium or lightweight profile.

Nope. Its proprietary and as far as I've found nobody makes replacement barrels.

Iirc, a guy on the hide went down that rabbit hole. Solution was to scrap the oem barrel to get the extension. I would seriously look at sticking with the non g2 pattern for that path.

Looks like that is gonna be the case, any thoughts on the Aero OEM package?

Matrix aerospace makes a pretty nice set.

Is there a reason you prefer .260 over 6.5CM? Not trying to get into a debate, but they are very similar, and from what I have noticed there appears to be a lot more support/barrel options for 6.5CM in semi-auto.
