Faulty detent opening for rear takedown pin?

So I was trying to install the rear takedown pin assembly and I’m having an issue with the pin “catching” the detent. It appears that the detent isn’t going through all the way and it looks stuck on the opening. Any ideas why? Do I need to just file the opening a bit more?

Use a drill bit, WITHOUT a drill, and twist it to remove debris impeding the detent pin.
