    No fizz at all. Good.
I cold blued the barrel because why not. Now it's in the hypersonic oiler for a good while. Hopefully it looks decent, but it's not a big deal either way, now that I know that I didn't damage it.
    Thanks for the help

You probably just had some paint still down in the porous Parkerized finish.

Cold blue will make bare metal more likely to rust. Plain spray paint would offer more protection.

What you are seeing is discoloration from residual paint and removing the oils from the parkerizing.
It will not get any better. Cold blue will only create a corrosion issue. Repaint, CeraKote or have it blasted bad parkerized.

Well, I wish that I had known that cold blue would CAUSE corrosion...
The barrel looks ok I guess, but there are patches of corrosion, even after scrubbing and soaking in oil.
What are my options now? I don't want to give her something that's gonna rust just sitting there.

Damn, sadly, the coloring looks pretty good too.

I don't know if the coldblue needs a scrub off or not. But, maybe it would be good to rub it with some high grit paper and get some high temp black paint on that sum-b and call her good.

I just tried some steel wool, and it seems to be improving. I can't get in all the crevices, so there's definitely going to be some Rust left over, but I can get the bulk of it off I think. The question is if the rust will return

How much do you have into the project? Maybe cut your loss and let somebody who wants to have a barrel coated deal with it.

Other option is to degrease and throw a coat of BBQ paint on it.

    Progress
The steel wool is doing a pretty good job of removing the rust.
