OMG!!! Talk about inflation.....$7K+ for a BAR

Got the email today. Memorial Day "$500 Off" sale. Always having admired the BAR, I clicked the link. $7,600 for a new semi-auto BAR.

Yeah, I'll go be poor somewhere else but damn, that is right up there with the semi-auto M249 SAW.

They were never really cheap. You could always buy pre may dealer sample machine guns for the same price, which is what I did everytime I almost bought a semi auto BAR.

The exact same reason why I will never own an m1g, its stupid.

I will stick with my modern weapons that are much better.

If you mean a Garand, very much apples to oranges. I know guys who only collect historical firearms. But an actual M1 Garand is almost completely unrelated to a reproduction BAR.

Yeah a really old gun sold for $2000 marked up to you or me at around $3500.

I can buy an AR pattern rifle in 30-06 for $3500 and it will work with modern ammo

Big difference between a $7K semi auto BAR and a $1K M1 Garand. I guess you own an HK 416 or SCAR because the AR platform is 60+ years old, hardly modern

Yeah, my 1903/M1 owning butt is hurt.

What SteyrAUG said. I expected that price to be an MG. Dumb money in my opinion. I'd be bored shooting that thing in one hour.

The semi-auto M249s are even higher.

Not everyone is you. Those people buying WWII firearms aren't doing it because they are the cutting edge of technology.

One would think that to be the case but not so. I've finger-fvcked one at a gun shop and have looked online. Pretty cool. It used to be around $4K (which was more than I would pay even then). That was a few years ago when things were "normal" price-wise, but with the "we'll raise our price because everyone else is doing it" thing called inflation you end up with a neat novelty weapon go from overly expensive to outrageous.

Since someone might mention supply vs demand, I'll guarantee you there hasn't been a huge rush on these items considering the original pricing several years ago, but now suddenly they're almost twice the price? Nah. The "Law of Supply and Demand" equation can be artificially manipulated.
