6.5 CM finally impressed me & Magnetto Speed Hit indicator T1000 pretty cool

I have a LMT MWS in 6.5 and a Bergara in 6.5. Both guns very nice and the round has shot amazingly accurate in such a variety of loads. But shooting long distance hadn’t overly impressed me until yesterday.

I grabbed my Bergara and loaded 10 rounds of Mark’s 143 ELD’s, in my mag and said I’m going straight to 1,300 yards. Being mentally challenged I dialed in the wrong DOPE ( oh yes this scope has 12 mils in one revelation, not 10), then went 8/10 at 1,300 yards and shot a pretty tight group. It was 300WM ish, very impressed. So I guess now I’m a believer.

Also, I bought a Magnetto speed T1000 that provides a hit indicator. It’s a little deal that velcro’s to the back of a target and flashes a red light when you make a hit. I bought for our to be attempt at 1 mile. Seeing 1,300 yard hits is tuff enough, so I can only imagine spotting one milers.

Just a little chatter for the bolt gun forum trigger pullers.

Agreed. We've been playing with 6.5 Grab Ass for e few months now. It finally really lit up the 1300 yard gong with impacts largely only varying on wind. Vertical stringing was only 6 or so inches.

    Why 143 ELD-X vs 140 or 147 ELD-M?

I think it happened to be what was available when Pappabear ordered components... Those and some lighter blem bullets if I remember correctly.

I think 143’s is what we were shooting. And I bought a bunch of 140 “blems”.

So you made 8/10 hits with the wrong DOPE dialed in? Or you started wrong then fixed it?

Fixed the come up, and then got the repeat hits.

Good shooting fellas. Yes those target hit indicators are worth it. We have been using them (upwards of 4 per target on the ELR stuff) and you wouldn't have a clue of impacts without them. One of these days I'll need to come shoot with you guys.

Now to throw a kink into this about the 6.5 in general. Has anyone here shot the 6.5PRC or thought about it? I purchased a Bergara Highlander in 6.5PRC and this rifle is easily the most accurate one I own. I don't have pics but I'm keeping 10 round groups easily within .75" at a 100 yards and have been shooting out to 600 yards with it and it is boring. 600 is the farthest I have to shoot. the 6.5 PRC is about 200 fps faster than the 6.5CM. I'm hunting with a load from Copper Creek Cartridge that has 140gr Berger Elite Hunter bullets going at 3000fps.

The 6.5PRC maybe something y'all want to play with.

I've seen claims of over 3300 fps with 143 eldx out of a 6.5 prc using the new staball powder. That's 600 fps faster than I'm getting from my 6.5 creedmoor. It was a longer barrel I believe but still made me think....
