Will, the ****ing flu doesn’t put 15-20% of patients in the ICU nor does it have a fatality rate anywhere near 3%. Pull your head out of your ass.

From your link "Of 710 patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia, 52 critically ill adult patients were included." So 710 patients with pneumonia with 52 critical. Of the 52 critical patients with a median age of 59 32 (61·5%) patients had died at 28 days, 3-11 days after being admitted to the ICU. Compared with survivors, non-survivors were older (64·6 years [11·2] vs 51·9 years [12·9]). So yes it is harder on older patients. But another hidden gem in this report "Most patients had organ function damage, including 35 (67%) with ARDS, 15 (29%) with acute kidney injury, 12 (23%) with cardiac injury, 15 (29%) with liver dysfunction, and one (2%) with pneumothorax." So even if you survive it's going to be with damaged organs, which begs the question what is it doing to those with milder symptoms, are they also suffering some degree of organ damage?
"Of 710 patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia, 52 critically ill adult patients were included. The mean age of the 52 patients was 59·7 (SD 13·3) years, 35 (67%) were men, 21 (40%) had chronic illness, 51 (98%) had fever. 32 (61·5%) patients had died at 28 days, and the median duration from admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) to death was 7 (IQR 3–11) days for non-survivors. Compared with survivors, non-survivors were older (64·6 years [11·2] vs 51·9 years [12·9]), more likely to develop ARDS (26 [81%] patients vs 9 [45%] patients), and more likely to receive mechanical ventilation (30 [94%] patients vs 7 [35%] patients), either invasively or non-invasively. Most patients had organ function damage, including 35 (67%) with ARDS, 15 (29%) with acute kidney injury, 12 (23%) with cardiac injury, 15 (29%) with liver dysfunction, and one (2%) with pneumothorax. 37 (71%) patients required mechanical ventilation. Hospital-acquired infection occurred in seven (13·5%) patients."

“The Trump Doctrine is ‘We’re America, Bitch.’ That’s the Trump Doctrine.”

First you all say you don't buy government numbers, then use government numbers? I'm unclear what the sourced are for the figures being thrown around. Right now, it's a very fluid situation and actual accurate numbers are few and far between, and my understanding was what I wrote above and requested an opinion from the doc on the topic as no doubt he's on top of it. I'm seeing conflicting numbers (as expected) and the H1N1 flu virus was worse, at least so far.
It does seem there’s not much doubt it will become a pandemic level event.

“Those who do not view armed self defense as a basic human right, ignore the mass graves of those who died on their knees at the hands of tyrants.”
In new research developments, a team from Wuhan, China, reports that even asymptomatic patients with COVID-19 pneumonia have abnormal lung findings on computed tomography (CT), and a group from Beijing noted that viral loads from infected patients appear to peak 5 to 6 days after symptom onset.

The positive is that, unlike SARS patients, thus far, haven't exhibited Pulmonary fibrosis.
Via the CDC:
"An N95 FFR is a type of respirator which removes particles from the air that are breathed through it. These respirators filter out at least 95% of very small (0.3 micron) particles. N95 FFRs are capable of filtering out all types of particles, including bacteria and viruses."
He said at the concentrations typically used in such products, they're not effective. Via the CDC:
"CDC recommends washing hands with soap and water whenever possible because handwashing reduces the amounts of all types of germs and chemicals on hands. But if soap and water are not available, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol..."
So yes, he's the one I was asking for an opinion on the issue.
