All that is necessary for trolls to flourish, is for good men to do nothing.
There were guys here reporting of sub MOA loads with the Hornday 62 HPBT w/c when it was really cheap to buy. We never developed a sub MOA load, but for the money, that bullet shot great. Sub 1.5 MOA without much effort.
It was good out to 750, but the 77s started to kick it's butt at that distance in come up and hit consistency.

My experience with the 62BTHP has been very good, typical groups hover around 0.7MOA at 100 out of a cheap Remington 783 with a 1:9 twist barrel.
I agree with you about shooting them at distance. The wind throws them around pretty good and their BC is pretty poor, just slightly better than a 55 FMJ.

There you go. I remember starting a thread on those bullets, and a bunch of you guys loaded better ammo that I was getting.
I still have several hundred of those bullets to play with.

My 62hpbt/cfe223/ARM shoots 5/8 to 3/4 at 100 regularly. Sometimes 1 1/4 or so. No wind, moa at 600 often. 16in 556 Wilson.
Tried same load out of old 223 700 vls (12in twist?). Way sub minute at 100, then the bullet simply vanished after 400. I reckon the spin thing caught up with it?
Yup. Got that one used 20yrs ago. 55 ballistic tips been great to 600 (no wind! Why do I keep saying that?) Never tried past 6.
Had to try 62's just to see.
Guess that long barrel buys a little time with velocity increase for the 62's, but.....
Same era 14 twist 308 vls actually shot Lapua 180s ok to 1000, and I settled on 175s as just fine for that distance.
Again, no helmets, badges, or sponsors here...
I loaded dedicated ammo for the 12 twist gun, but we just never shoot it. PB has a suppressor fetish too, and that barrel isn't threaded so not only is its reach not as far, it's a ear protection requirement too.
