Great film, Appaloosa. A buddy of mine supplies horses to the film industry here in New Mexico. Got to watch some of the filming of Appaloosa for several days north of Santa Fe at Palovista Ranch. In the past decade or so have watched several movies being filmed on set, including the remake of 3:10 To Yuma, No Country for Old Men, True Grit and Hell or High Water. Got another buddy who is a GreensKeeper/Greensman for films shot here. Part of his job is to restore any damage to vegetation during the filming.

Another classic rock performer gone, and from another era of Good Music.
    RIP Tom Petty

All the good old American rock singers are dying out and nobody is carrying on the torch.

Sad. You know....I can't even think of any real scandals or upsets. He just showed up and played. I wont lie and say I had all his records but he was always on the radio.

We were texting yesterday about this & I told him for a tribute that he needs to put a little extra mustard on that guitar solo at their next gig.
    Great minds and all that!

    Totally understand the goosebump thing.

Yes sir, Appaloosa and Open Range are probably my two favorite modern Westerns. Ed Harris was taking a horseback trip through Ireland with his family when he read the book and decided to acquire the film rights. Glad he did, just really a phenomenal film. I was pleased to see him use Tom Petty and his old friends in Mudcrutch for the soundtrack. I'm jealous of your buddy, sounds like a sweet gig with some of the prettiest country as your "office" everyday.

Agreed, saw Dwight Yoakam (another one of my favorites) post this yesterday on FB.

I've always been a huge Tom Petty fan. I regret not seeing him play live. I am definitely not a big concert-goer but his show was on my bucket list.

A funny story if you know a lot about rock history.

When Tom Petty first came on the scene, a lot of people compared his voice to that of Roger McGuinn.

So, IIRC the hoopla caused Roger McGuinn to seek the limelight and start performing again, or at least revived an interest in his older records.

So I had a buddy that burst in the door one day praising this "new guy" Roger McGuinn because he sounds just like Tom Petty.

Took me the better part of a long conversation to convince him that it's the other way around.

This is my favorite Tom Petty song. First one I recall ever hearing and it blew my mind as a kid in both the music and the video.

Loved the song, but honestly that "Alice in Wonderland" shit needed to go.

This was off the last album I bought of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Came out in 1999. Loved this song and the album in general.

    RIP Tom.

The video made the song. And the song made the video.
