In the Peoples' Socialist Republic of New York, this is true - there is no "castle doctrine" law. When faced with deadly force, you are required to retreat out of your own home if possible before defending with deadly force.

Fortunately for those of us who live in states such as AK and NH, no such assinine requirement exists.

New York is an amazing place to be if your hobbies don't include anything gun related.

But hey if they complicate shooting someone in self defense at least the Police response time is incredibly fast.

Odd, it's usually the first thing pointed out when discussing magnifiers behind dots.

I forget sometimes that many people are not aware that magnification doesn't make the user shoot better but rather that it makes whatever the optic is oriented on appear larger. Good optics allow the shooter to more precisely target and identify.

Besides the cost would't anACOG 3 or 4 x with the RMR attached be the most versatile?

I would say a low power variable with a off set RDS like a T1 or RMR is the most versitle. The reason being is you can have a range of power settings vs just 4x and 1x.

How often would the 2 or 3 power settings be used? When I was using an Accupoint I only used it on 1x or 4x

I used to be the same way but I have found that you shoot faster if you have just enough magnification to see your target clearly and see every target in surrounding area. In real life that would mean a wide enough field of view to cover your area of responsibility. I use 1, 1.5, 2,3,4 and 6 power quite a bit. A good rule of thumb is 1x per 100 yards on normal man sized targets.
