Every other AR that doesn't already have a rifle buffer system should run smoother and more reliably.

Buffer weight monkeying should only be done on overgassed guns.
So would it work well on a bcm middy 14.5?

Good to know. I'll will be having a local shop Cerakote mine and just wanted to make sure there was not going to be any problems with the new coating BCM is using.

If you don't mind me asking, did you just Cerakote right over the finish? Or did you prep it and or bead blast it first?

Well there are some problems. You cannot blast the rail like you normally would an anodized rail.

Yes. You may need one of the lighter buffers unless you polish the bolt carrier.

I used an A5 h4 with a Vltor spring on my BCM middy 14.5". I also used an lmt e-carrier which had its bearing surfaces polished. Ran like a champ. In fact, it still runs like a champ....for the wifey.

Awesome! I felt one at the battlecomp booth and tango down's booth. It just made me that much more anxious to get one

As BTJ said, it's a simple swap of buffers. My Noveske Afghan barrel needed an A5 H1 buffer (instead of the stock A5 H2) to be 100% reliable with the lightest shooting ammo I have, while filthy and cold out. There is NO reason not to use an A5 setup, ever, unless for some reason you have to have that 1" shorter, collapsed length. One of my SBRs has a regular carbine length RE because I wanted the shortest collapsed length on that particular rifle. All of my others have an A5 RE.

If they ever make a fluted 18" ELW with rifle gas, I'm in....and BCM would quickly own the 3 gun crowd.
