My lightweight Colt with light, ammo and opticis 8 pounds. Adding a magnified optic and ATPIAL or DBAL would put me over ten. Sorry, I'm not going to feel bad about wanting to start witha light rifle.

Sure - many of you say you want a lighter rifle - but that's not always a good thing. Highpower shooters have been adding weight to their service rifles for years to enhance balance and soften felt recoil - to add speed in getting back on target in rapid fire. In fact, one of the reasons the AR has so thoroughly dominated Service Rifle competition is the cumulative fatigue that firing 50 rounds through a full power battle rifle induces, and the effect of that on accuracy. In a sport where victory is decided by just a couple of points this can be critical.

As always, each of us has his own pet wants, needs, preferences and prejudices - and for me 7.62 is for intermediate range precision work. So I have an M14 built from USGI parts on a Fulton receiver witha medium weight barrel, in a JAE stock with an ACOG on an SEI mount. Too heavy for a service rifle? Sure. But it does what I need it to, and it does it well.

My next project, though? I've got a Fulton Titan lower, and plan to build up my own version of what I feel the M110 SASS ought to have been.

SIG does not equal HESSE. And, this platform brings more options to the .308 table.

it doesn't look anything like FDE in the pic. Does it look closer to it in person? As a competition gun it probably does not matter. I like the idea of anodizing as it i a very tough finish that is better looking than the std finish. Maybe a dark green anodize or something more subtle will be better.

The sig with the magpul stock looks good as well.

One of the Colt guys referred to it as such in the booth. Perhaps not one of their "in the know" guys.
