    Colt commander sight issue

So I bought a new Colt LW commander 38 super with Novak sight cuts and wanted to replace the sight with more of a Trijicon HD style. I found some trueglo's for commander guns that looked good, problem is the poi is 6" high at 25 yrds. Should I just throw these things away? Or......???

I did not. The sights are both significantly taller, but are labeled for 9mm commanders.

Since you mentioned new and wanting different sights, did you shoot it with the stock sights still on?

Shoot group from bench, measure precisely how high you’re printing using the rear sight you intend to use.
Go to the link provided. This will tell you what height FS you should be using.
Dawson has very good Tritium FS’s as well as FO.

You also may want to try a few different kinds of ammo. Still seems high but you can always check. And you can let someone else shoot it to make sure your using correct sight picture.

The stock sights were much closer to place/poi. I don’t think the stock rear sight would work as it’s significantly shorter.

I’m fairly certain it’s the sights, as all the other guns I was shooting shot as expected. The ammo hasn’t been chrono’d, but I expect around 1200 FPS. I was hoping some one else had experience with the truglo’s

I agree on using blacked out rears, but this was a set so I thought I’d give it a try.

If you can determine what style dovetail on your Colt is, refer to the links below to order the proper height front sight for your gun.

You will need to own a caliper. Read the description carefully.

This link below will help you determine which style dovetail your Colt has, Novak or C-More:

After you determine which one you have, go here and see if there is an HD front sight that has the proper height for your gun.

Thanks. I'll check those out. They are definitely a Novak sight cut.

I'm super disappointed that I spent money on sights that appear to be useless at this point.
