Please HELP... Supposed Pre Ban HK91

I found a seller claiming to be selling a "Unfired PreBan HK 91 1981 Date Code IB"

He says it's.. "All Original! German Made, Numbers Matching, UNFIRED! with HK Bipod, Bayonet, Sling and Scope Mount with FOUR HK 20 rd Mags! Bolt Gap at 0.015."

He's asking $1,800 for it. Seems to good to be true. I know these go for 2-3k anythoughts on it. Possible fraud? It would be a local FTF purchase. Things I should look out for. I'll include all pics I can. If there is something specific I need him to send pic of please let me know.

    THANKS ALL

Based on everything I see in the crappy cell phone pics it all looks correct.

Early blue gray with 0-1 group suggests everything is original. Bolt gap shouldn't even be mentioned as it's not a kit gun. Bayonet is a CETME and all other accessories are cheap and affordable surplus purchases but the rifle looks good. Incidentally a year ago a buddy of mine scored a similar rifle in 98% condition for about $2,000 IIRC.

I doubt very much that it's unfired, but that seems to be a common internet grade for something with less than 500 rounds through it. I'd want to see clean and clear picture of the bolt / bolt carrier group and the face of the hammer.

    Some more info...

    https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...-HK91-G3-Rifle

Also found a listing for the same rifle, bolt carrier group and trigger group look right and everything seems to check out. Wish the pictures were a little sharper, but I didn't see anything obvious like parts from a G3 lit or mix and match furniture.

The magazines and accessories won't be original to the rifle, but the rifle itself is good to go. If accessories and magazines were original to the rifle and still in the styro and box, it would probably be selling for a lot more.

The bipod looks like an all steel NATO bipod which is actually far superior to the hollow tubes with plastic feet bipods that shipped with the original HK91s.

That same rifle is being sold on Armslist in Florida. Armslist is notorious for having fake listings. I would be VERY CAUTIOUS considering that he is asking below market price.

Honestly Armslist and GunsAmerica are so full of scammers I won't even bother looking. If it's not on GB or a known forum, I assume it's BS.

I wouldn't paint GunsAmerica with such a broad brush. I just got my hands on an LE trade-in Colt 6520 that is actually in better condition than the vendor's photos would suggest.

I haven't shot it yet, but if appearances mean anything it couldn't have fired more than a few hundred rounds. I would have never ever found that rifle except on an internet gun site. You just have to do your homework and stick to vendors with a lot of positive and very little negative feedback.
