Good call on replacing the extractor spring. Also check the extractor for damage & wear.

It's also possible the shoulder of the reloaded ammo has been pushed back too far. Extractor loses control of the ammo and the ammo fits too deep in the chamber for a solid strike from the firing pin. It could also be from the shoulder length being too long.

Your problem could be caused by the extractor not snapping over the rim on chambering. This could be caused by too much extractor pressure.

It could be caused by a weak hammer spring.

    MistWolf,
Thank you for the info. At this time I do believe it is the extractor. I have ordered three extractors and will retest. The reloads are all from the same batch and have run without issue. However, I have inspected some rounds and measured and mic them. They are in spec. Additionally, they have run with no issues in other guns and the only time there is an issue is with the one particular BCG. When I replaced the BCG in the "problematic" upper, it ran without fail. I agree the round is slipping off the extractor and going too deep into the chamber. Edit: I thought about the hammer spring and that is why I mentioned in the post about the different trigger. However, with the different BCG there are no issues.
    Cheers, Steve

I apologize for not updating this thread. I want to stress that I appreciate everyone's time and input. I replaced the extractor spring and insert. I still had the issue. As I mentioned, I thought it was the extractor. I have replaced the extractor and all is good. A close look at the extractor revealed that it was "worn."

So just to be clear. You replaced the spring and insert(s) in each and that fixed the issue?

Negative. Respecting the problematic BCG only: I replaced the extractor spring and insert and still had the same problem. I had both the spring and insert in my parts inventory. I then ordered three extractors and when they came in, I replaced the extractor and problem solved.

    Cheers, Steve
