I genuinely think they’re struggling on the civilian side.

Well, I found this.....

Ummm OK. A red dot sight with a dial for drop compensation.
At that point why would I want that over a good 1-8x24 with a good BDC reticle?
I will say Aimpoint is kinda H&K like in that they make stuff by request of .mil users, so my WAG is this would be something someone asked for.
I agree with the fact that Aimpoint are struggling with the Civie side, as Chicom has upped their game in the sub-$200 RDS market, which fits a large percentage of the shooting crowd's needs and desires.
I was shooting my Romeo 5 yesterday with an Aimpoint H-2 and when shooting, you can't tell the difference. Functionally I prefer rotary dial illumination vs buttons on the Romeo 5, and I have zero doubts the H-2 is more durable. But on a gun that is 99% range toy (9MM AR SBR), I'll take a $200 R5 ($100 + $100 for a better mount) vs $600-800 for the latest version of an Aimpoint Micro - I have 4 Aimpoints, T-2/H-2/Pro/M4S which I have acquired in a variety of sales, trades, etc. Love them all but I really don't see a need for another one. I considered the CompM5 for AAA battery but at $900, no way.
