Exactly. Unfortunately when you try to make the points about the shut downs and voter fraud you have to undo the damage done by people who are pushing stuff like this.
I think Covid deaths are counted like storm related deaths during a hurricane. If you die during a hurricane it is blamed on the storm no matter what killed you.

Earlier in the year it sounded like I might not be able to get a Covid vaccination until maybe June or later for lack of supply. That some folks believed Covid is a hoax and/or didn't want to be vaccinated is something I viewed as fewer in line ahead of me. Good. Now that I've been vaccinated I really don't care what folks believe.

That said, the excess death numbers indicate something extraordinary occurred last year. Perhaps there was a lot of fatal motorcycle accidents.

I tend to agree with you, but there's one problem...if Covid continues to circulate, that means more possible mutations, which means more chance the vaccine won't handle those as well. Other than that issue, I'm fine with people refusing the vaccine, taking their chances and doing what they want. My wife and I are vaccinated (Pfizer) and we're back to living life like we did before. We're 72 and just not worrying about it. We've known several people who have gotten Covid and died...in 72 years I've never had someone I know die from the flu.

It'll be just like 2009, and Sandy Hook. There will be a lot of talk, and some threatened legislation. But no real "common sense" gun control. At worst, ATF will classify some braced pistols as SBRs.

And a year from now, American Eagle 9mm will be $11 a box.

I seriously doubt they will ban braces. They may say “you can’t shoulder them again” but the ADA will ream their asses because they were made for special needs people.

80% might fall under FFL maybe.

Biden is gonna pour money into black communities who will piss it away on dumb shit to “prevent violence”

And there is vague buttressing of Red Flag at the state level.

So nothing real but still annoying
    This post ^

Calm, rational, credible. It’s this sort of logical, non-hysterical viewpoint that I very much appreciate.

I hear ya. I figure if there's some vaccine-resistant mutation it'll probably come from some S-hole area of world anyway. In any event, I'm busy enough with things I can control. The wife and I got Pfizer. We're just a few years behind ya and catching up fast. Cheers.

    Your memory seems fuzzy.

There were two Sandy Hook moments, the official "we tried" event where Obama commented that he was "very disappointed" and then the second "last hour, no warning" event where NRA A rated Harry Reid tried to ram through some serious shit when they thought nobody was looking and they got very, very close to what was basically the Clinton ban but with no sunset provision. They banked on complacency and almost won.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

One thing I recall post Sandy Hook was a rather obvious pushback from the gun community, unapologetic and a digging-in of the heels. A distinct "Screw you, we don't care what you pass, you can shove it". If the murder of a bunch of elementary kids can evoke that kind of a response (essentially "my rights > your dead") then I'm sure that mentality hasn't abated. But yeah, they tried a fast one and fortunately it didn't fly. Gun owners weren't willing to sacrifice their Rights because of some emaciated POS who (in hindsight) should have been beaten every day of his miserable, dysfunctional life and kept in a closet.

It has progressed to doubling sometime later. Will get really confusing if it starts jumping threads.
