Diamondback...did you find an American company that sells the butt pad you're looking for?

Not yet, Tom--I'm about ready to start learning the ins and outs of rubber molding, use the airsoft version as a master to create a mold and roll my own. Either that or see if I can find a way to dye the "close but not quite" Model 1 Sales pad.

Tom, I'm looking at Warlord Tactical, through these guys up in Canada. https://www.007airsoft.com/product.p...ink=&view=1074 (They were the first place I found that had even the crappy Airsoft tri-rail in stock and have gone above and beyond helping out with my oddball questions, so I figure giving them my business is a small thank-you--the rail I'm planning to have a frat-brother who works with Boeing reverse-engineer and rework up to Live Iron grade unless BCM 180's and runs more of theirs first.)

    Comparison pics..

    Warlord

    Model 1

And an aged Canadian green looks like... well, my gut wants to call it a mint green.

Quite welcome, though I really don't see much help to be had in what I've pitched in. If I were building a Nam-era CAR or 1st-gen M4, my first instinct would be to get the Model 1 and call it a day.

Then again, between autistic pathology and congenital personality defects there's a long list of things I suck at, and "quitting" and "knowing when to quit" are two of 'em... serves me well as a research wonk bulldozing my way to the answers my clients need, but can be a real pain to anyone between me and those answers. lol

The Model1 looks a bit thick compared to the Canadian C8 model. I got on the email list for Canada, they're out of stock. I'll see how long it takes.

Might also take a quick Google and see if you can find anybody here in the US selling Warlord stuff. You building a C8 too? If so, I'll be happy to forward you a copy of my notes so far.

Been looking all over the net and for the most part I've struck out. Not building C8, just liked the look of that particular pad for my old timey Car stocked carbine.

Tom, the manufacturer doesn't have a website but their Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/pg/warlord....=page_internal --I don't have an FB account, but if you do and are game for taking point I might be on for pooling resources on a joint order. Right now, our friends to the north are being unresponsive in comms, so I'm starting to put backup plans together.
