Not directly to me. Falfiles a member shared a link to some over run USMC boots on Sportsmans Guide or similar because he thought they worked well and were a good deal. Several USMC vets piled in claiming stolen valor if he wore them due to the EGA logo.

One I have shared here before was on Lightfighter where several went ape shit because a guy listed his occupation as "Operator" because he worked in operations for a utilit6 company which, much like the ladies at the phone company in days of old who managed calls, was a job title around long before ever being used in lieu of soldier.
Meh, some folks are wound too tight. I don't care what folks buy or wear. I'm just anti "acting like a moron".

I've known quite a few genuine pointy Mother F'ers. Not one has ever referred to himself as an "operator". I list my occupation as "contractor", never been called out as trying to pass for Blackwater/Academi/Triple canopy. I build shit on contract, that's what I do.

Maybe I ain't the one to ask though. I ain't pointy. I spent my time in the Corps either on barracks support, libo, or signing fat townie chicks into the E-Club.

Lot of wadded panties in this thread, including mine. Let's de-wedgie and roll on.

Because that is clearly who he is talking about.
Pretty sure, according to his definition, yea. I shoot steel on the back 40 with a Mk18, often under nods. And I ain't practicing to hunt or shoot for the olympic team either. I possess armor that's (gasp) camouflage.

So yep, pretty sure that fits his definition of promoting an operator persona. I don't post selfies in social media because that's not my generation's thing, but why shouldn't people? They're unapologetically championing the Second Amendment, not trying to convince people that they're something they're not.

Because most of those people spend more time posing than training, perhaps that is a point you missed.

Now if you want to participate in self victimhood, go right ahead. You are vigilantly selective reading parts of this and parts of that while ignoring the whole in order to be offended. But I guess that is also your right.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

So what?! Is that a crime now? What you and Meyer seem incapable of articulating is what exactly these people are doing that's so morally backwards as to be construed as "the problem with the world." At least they're promoting and normalizing the Second Amendment.

If we want to get into people posting too much of themselves on social media, that's an ENTIRELY different topic. But Meyer didn't mention all the people posting their food and shit did he? Nope, he zeroed in on people wearing camo and doing tactical shit. So it's not the vanity of social media he's concerned about, it's the wearing of camo and the doing of tactical shit that bothers him so much.

And he apparently doesn't have a problem if former military does it. He pretty clearly says it's only the people who didn't serve who are "the problem." So I guess in his weird little honor code, it's okay as long as the person served, and that somehow entitles them and only them to wear camo and do tactical shit on the range.

You can try to spin this however you want, but these people aren't doing anything wrong, period. They're not wearing medals they didn't earn, they're not claiming or even implying they're this or that. They're simply training in gear, and that's what really gets his goat.

The fact that he gets bent about what people do by right in their spare time, is ridiculous. The fact that people get bent at what he says by right, is ridiculous. Social media and recreational outrage is doing more damage to our country than the Wu flu.

At Ft Hood we have a long line of various small arms ranges.
I'm sitting there looking at the map one day and say "Hey why don't we saddle up and have a round robin range thing?" You run from the starting line carrying a Carbine and a pistol you go to your spot on the line, do twenty push up's and fire. You fire for record then get cleared off the line and run. Then you go a klick down the road and fire your M203, getting cleared again you run to fire your pistol, then another 20 push up's and another run and then a round of carbine fire.
Bear in mind this was way pre 911.
I might as well have left my pants at home. I got laughed at, called a nut and generally got my good name dragged through hell...
And look at what good training they missed out on.

The .mil hates guns and bullets.

Maybe I can put this in terms everyone can understand. A picture is worth a thousand words, right?

If you have a problem with this...

Then you also have a problem with this, and you just don't know it yet.
