BCM 11.5 " BFH vs 12.5" standard

I am looking for the sweet spot of reliability, longevity, handiness, tolerable muzzle blast, and ability to hit torso sized targets at up to 300 yards. I would lean towards the 12.5" for reduced blast, lower pressures, and ability to hit further targets. Does the shorter forged barrel buy me much at the expense of more blast and higher pressures? If BCM offered BFH in the 12.5, I would grab it, but they only have in 11.5".
Am I altogether better just getting a 14.5 and having it pinned? Curious as to how other folks have gone. Thanks in advance.

My favorite configuration that BCM offers is the 12.5 kino. However, you will probably not notice any significant difference in how the 11.5 shoots compared to a 12.5. My favorite barrel length for 5.56 is 12.5 so that is what I would default to because of its extra pick up in velocity and the extra rail space.

I have both 11.5" and 12.5" barreled guns and both are outstanding. It all comes down to what you intend on using them for. I find that the 12.5 offers the best of both worlds regarding being able to operate indoors and outdoors. I run a Saker K on my 12.5" guns, where I have to run a longer can on the 11.5". Net, net, the lengths are close to the same with a can, so it is a wash from that perspective. However, the blast without a can is far less with the 12.5 and the drop in velocity is minimal when compared to my 14.5" guns, which provides for some extended ranges that I can use the gun at. I like both and it will all come down to how you plan on using it.

Also, BCM's standard barrels are great. I have several guns with them and have had zero issues. You won't see an appreciable gain from the BFG barrels, other than the barrel life, but it will take a lot to shoot out their standard barrel IMHO.

IMHO, in reality, whether you choose a CHF or standard barrel or a 11.5" inch vs 12.5" length, matters very little, and is really just ones personal preferance.

Agree. CHF is fine, but it really never plays a part in my barrel selection. I may have 1 CHF. 300 yards is a slam dunk for either barrel length. Turn the red dot down a little, put the dot on the head of the target, and drop 'em in there all day long.

I currently have a standard BCM 11.5” AR Pistol and love it. I have seriously considered the BCM 12.5” SBR based on my research it just seems to be a great overall length for my purposes. I wonder why BCM does not offer BFH in 9” and 12.5”
